Hey there!
Ever catch yourself wondering Who’s thinking about me right now?
I know it sounds a little self-centered at first but stick with me here! This idea popped into my head yesterday and really made me think. Our minds wander so much throughout the day, and we end up thinking about people we haven't seen in ages or even ones we only met once in high school. A lot of times, it takes a minute to even realize we are thinking about our best friend from 1st grade 30 years ago. And if we’re thinking about them, doesn’t it make sense that someone might be thinking about us too?
It’s wild to imagine that right this second, someone could be picturing you in this horrible shirt you used to wear all the time 20 years ago. Yes, many of us had an emo stage in high school… wait, it was just me?? Anyway… maybe they’re smiling because of something funny you once said, or maybe you’re just crossing their mind for no reason at all. Isn’t that kind of heartwarming?
We all have those moments when a memory suddenly sneaks up on us. You’re just going about your day, and suddenly you remember someone you haven’t talked to in years, or maybe even a stranger you shared one single nod with in the grocery store 3 months ago.
I think it’s amazing that these small memories are still alive in us, like little sparks or bubbles. Yep, memory bubbles. And here’s the thing that really got me thinking – just like we remember others, others are likely remembering us too. I mean, they have to, right?
My mind immediately imagined Professor Xavier using Cerebro to link to various mutants around the world (yep, it’s an X-Men reference; yep, I’m that old). I pictured this invisible web of connections, where each thought is a tiny thread keeping us linked to someone else.
Isn’t it funny how people we don’t see any more still hold a place in our minds? Maybe it’s an old friend from school, a family member who lives far away, or even someone we briefly met while traveling. I know I’m repeating myself, but doesn’t this make you wonder if they think about us as much as we think about them?
It sounds super cheesy and probably not what you’d expect from me, but in a way, these memories and thoughts are proof that we’re all connected, even if we don’t see or speak to each other. And, honestly, it’s nice to think that, somewhere out there, someone has random thoughts about us too – a kind of mental keepsake.
Sometimes, we don’t even realize the impact we have on others. A simple act of kindness, a laugh shared, or a helpful gesture – all these small things make a difference. They might seem like ordinary moments to us, but to someone else, they could be unforgettable. And vice versa.
So, if you’re still reading you might be asking yourself why the heck am I sharing all this, why does any of it matter?
I think it matters because, deep down, most of us just want to feel seen, like we matter to someone. Life can get busy, and sometimes we get wrapped up in our routines, wondering if anyone truly notices. But if we start to think about all the people who might be holding a memory of us, it gives life a new kind of meaning.
I know it might sound a little cheesy (repeating myself again), but I find this quite comforting. You could be out running errands or at home doing the dishes, and right then, someone might be thinking about you. They might be replaying a funny moment you shared, or just wondering how you’re doing.
The thought of all this makes me think about reaching out to people more. Sometimes, we remember someone and think, Oh, I’ll reach out to them later, but later never comes. Life moves so fast that we forget. But what if we made it a habit to just say hello? Maybe send a quick message to that friend we’re thinking of or check in with a family member we haven’t spoken to in a while?
I bet it would mean a lot to them – and to us too. There’s something special about knowing that someone took a moment to think of you, to check in, or just to say hi. We never know what people are going through, and that small gesture could be just what they need.
Another thing I realized is that we often underestimate how much we mean to people. Sometimes, we get so focused on our own worries or insecurities that we forget we’re part of someone else’s life story. Think about it – you might be someone’s childhood hero, their best friend from years ago, or just the person who always made them feel welcome.
You probably don’t even realize the impact you’ve had on some people but trust me – you’ve left a mark, the same way others have left a mark on your life. And I think that’s something worth appreciating. Every little memory we’ve created with others, every kind word we’ve shared, it all adds up.
Maybe, right at this moment, someone is smiling just because they thought of you. Maybe they’re missing you, or maybe they’re hoping you’re doing well. You might never know it, but that doesn’t make it any less real.
The next time you find yourself randomly thinking of someone, consider reaching out. You never know how much that little hello might mean to them. And who knows? They might even tell you they were just thinking about you too. 😊
I think I’m going to end this here. It’s a bit of an out there topic that I wasn’t sure I wanted to write about, but after spending quite some time marinating those thoughts this week, I decided to share them with you.
Thank you for reading and sharing the newsletter with your friends. It helps me grow and reach more people who might find value in what I have to share, and I appreciate you for it!
See you next week!
Best,
Dobri 🍃
